Virgin Atlantic operated over 30 Boeing 747 'Jumbo Jets' starting in 1984 with a leased 200 series aircraft and retiring its last 400 series jet in 2020.

Boeing 747-4Q8 (G-VFAB) was the first 400 series Jumbo to join Virgin Atlantic's fleet, operating with them from 1994 to 2015. In keeping with the way the airline named their planes, G-VFAB was called 'Lady Penelope'.
