Early evening June 6th 1944, D-Day. Wing Commander Desmond Scott pilots his Hawker Typhoon over the Normandy coast as the Allied invasion forces cross into German-occupied France. HP Halifax bombers tow Hamilcar gliders while a flight of Spitfires provides top cover as they fly over the Caen canal and Orne river estuary. Oil on Canvas.
